Suzanne P. (Markonis) Straub, 60, of 1165 W. Lloyd St., Shenandoah, passed away peacefully Saturday morning at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.

Born in Shenandoah, March 16, 1955, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Helen (McCloskey) Markonis.

She was a 1973 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.

Suzanne was a retired garment worker having last worked for the former Alma Dress Co. and then for the former Reggio Fashions, both of Shenandoah.

On September 7, 1974, in Saint Stephen Church, Shenandoah, she married Glenn A. Straub, who survives.

She was a member of the former Saint Stephen Church, Shenandoah, and the ILGWU.

Suzanne enjoyed gardening and was an animal lover, especially her cats for which she cared greatly.

Surviving, in addition to her husband of 40 years, Glenn, are a daughter, Susan Smith and her husband, Robert, West West Terrace, Pottsville; two grandsons, Brandon and Andrew Smith; a sister-in-law; a brother-in-law; a niece.

Religious services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. The Rev. Jose Johnson will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. Relatives and friends may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
