Obituary

William J. Swantek, 67, of Pattersonville, Ringtown, passed away peacefully Saturday evening at his residence surrounded by his family.

Born in Shenandoah, he was a son of the late John J. Swantek Sr. and Violet Janowczyk Swantek.

He was a 1966 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.

Mr. Swantek was a decorated Navy veteran, having received the National Defense Service Medal.

Bill was a carpenter and co-owner of the former Swantek Lumber Co., Shenandoah. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Shenandoah Valley School District as the maintenance supervisor.

Surviving are his wife of 46 years, the former Susan A. Serakas; two sons, Daniel and Joseph Swantek; one grandson, Christopher Swantek; two brothers, Thomas and James Swantek; two sisters, Dolores Gallo and Janet Antz; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Religious services with military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian will officiate.

Family may gather for a funeral procession to Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 12:45 p.m. Thursday at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah.
