William H. Pitts, 83 of Citrus Springs, Florida died July 23, 2021.
He was born in Girardville to Charles and Anna Taunitis Pitts on June 11, 1938.
Bill served in the US Army and later the New Jersey National Guard. As an officer he was called to active duty to serve in Vietnam. Bill was awarded the Purple Heart.
Bill earned his BS degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
He was employed by the Department of Defense where he started at Picatinny Arsenal in Dover, New Jersey then to Falls Church, Virginia and then Indianapolis, Indiana where he retired. Bill then had his own consulting business for many years working all over the country.
Bill was predeceased by his parents and siblings; Helen Fobia, Charles Pitts and Edward Pitts and son in law Timothy DeNease.
Survivors are his wife Regina (Jean) Rome Pitts, children; Nancy of Indiana, William of California, Kathleen DeNease of Tucson, Arizona and Vaughan (Taylor) of Azle, Texas, stepson, Steven (Sharla) Rome of Fort Worth, Texas. Grandchildren; Christiana and Ethan Pitts of Azle, Texas, Alexandria (Brent) Schmidt of Austin, Texas and Taylor (Jesse) James of Hawaii. One adorable great-grandchild Ellie Schmidt. His siblings Mary Jean Sanders of Idaho and Robert "Bob" Pitts of Ringtown; and nieces, nephews and their families.
Graveside religious services with military honors will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Wildcat Cemetery, Girardville. Rev. Mindy Heppe will officiate.
