William "Bill" Langford, 85, of 3345 Old 22, Hamburg, passed away peacefully Monday morning at Reading Hospital, West Reading.

Born in Mahanoy City, Feb. 11, 1929, he was a son of the late James and Matilda Cooper Langford.

Mr. Langford was a decorated Army veteran having served in the Korean War. His decorations and citations include the Korean Service Medal with Two Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal.

Prior to his retirement, he worked in general maintenance at the Hamburg Center.

He was a member of First United Church of Christ and the VFW Post, both of Hamburg, and was also a member of the American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees Union.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his wife, the former Jean Marie Thompson on May 10, 2013; one brother, Edward; one sister, Marion.

Surviving are two daughters, Lisa Fisher and her husband, Glenn, Hamburg, and Lana Lewis and her husband, Jacob, West Lawn; four grandchildren, Bradley Fisher and his wife, Katherine, Kenneth Fisher, and Mason and Sara Lewis; one great-grandson, Riley Fisher; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Prayer and scripture services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. Pastor Larry Longenecker will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in German Protestant Cemetery, Mahanoy City. Relatives and friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
