Obituary

Walter J. "Wally" Cieslukowski, 85, of Shenandoah, passed away peacefully Monday morning at his residence with his family by his side.

Born in Shenandoah, May 25, 1931, he was a son of the late Louis and Pauline Butchko Cieslukowski.

Wally was a 1950 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.

Wally served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War from 1952 to 1956. He took part in atomic testing in Nevada and also was in Eniewetok and Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands in the Pacific. He was honorably discharged at Andrews Air Force Base and received the National Defense Service Medal. Walter was a member of the former VFW and Legion posts both of Shenandoah. He was also a member of the DAV, Shenandoah.

Earlier he worked at the former Purolator Products, Pattersonville, and later retired as a line operator from Hexcel Corp., Saint Clair.

Wally was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah, formerly St. Casimir Church, and the Shenandoah Heights Fire Company.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were seven brothers, Joseph, Louis, Anthony, Theodore, Leonard, John and Albert; one sister, Mary Balkiewicz.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, the former Patricia S. Anisczyk; two sons, Walter Cieslukowski and his wife, Deborah, Dillsburg, and Peter Cieslukowski, Shenandoah; three grandchildren, Kevin, Brian and Candace Cieslukowski; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Regina Brutto, Shenandoah, and Dolores Zagorski, Fords, N.J.; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Casimir's Church, the sacred worship site of Divine Mercy Parish, 229 N. Jardin St., Shenandoah. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.

Relatives and friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
