Thomas M. "Tom" "Tucker" Barlow, 63, of Indiana Avenue, Shenandoah Heights, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning at his residence with his family by his side after a courageous battle with blood cancer.
Born in Shenandoah, Nov. 28, 1950, he was a son of the late Thomas R. and Elizabeth "Lillian" Orr Barlow.
Tom was a 1968 graduate, the last graduating class of J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah. After graduating from high school, he furthered his education in computer technology.
On May 13, 1989, he married the former Debi Shearn, who survives.
Earlier, he was employed at the former Union National Bank, Shenandoah. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the United States Postal Service in Tremont as a letter carrier for 26 years. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers Union, Tremont Local, where served as the former president. He also was employed at Knoebels Amusement Resort, Elysburg, where he enjoyed working and interacting with staff and patrons.
Tom was a loving husband, dad, brother and uncle. He was an outgoing person and enjoyed socializing with everyone he encountered.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a former member of the Shenandoah Borough Council. He was instrumental in the formation of the former Shenandoah Street Hockey League.
He enjoyed watching all sporting events, but above all was an avid Penn State football and Villanova basketball fan. Tom enjoyed many trips with his family to Las Vegas and local casinos.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 25 years, are one daughter, Jamie Barlow, at home; one brother, Walter A. Barlow, Shenandoah; two sisters, June Sendlock and her husband, Robert, Fairless Hills, and Sharon Sadusky and her husband, Joseph, Ringtown; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Religious and prayer services will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. The Rev. Craig Zimmerman will officiate. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell, Shenandoah, is in charge of the arrangements.
