Suzanne E. Finneran, 72, of Mechanicsville, passed away at Penn State Hershey Medical Center on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 after a long battle with breast cancer.
Born February 19, 1950 in Pottsville, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Helen (nee McLaughlin) Somers of Pottsville. She was a 1968 graduate of Nativity BVM High School.
Suzanne was blessed with a wicked sense of humor and a contagious laugh, which was appreciated by all who knew her. She held various jobs in the community. During her career, she graciously and lovingly served the special needs community through her work with Avenues and Access Services. Prior to that, she used her sense of style to support the business interests of Schoeneman Beauty Supply.
She was active in the community and local politics for many years. As a result of her involvement, she was well-known and liked throughout Schuylkill County.
A surprise to many, she was an avid fan of NASCAR, and traveled to races, first with her father, and later with her husband John and dog, Katy.
As no surprise, she loved Notre Dame, and loved to travel to South Bend with her husband, John, and friends in their RV. Suzanne was also a social member of the Mechanicsville Game and Fish Association.
She will be missed by her husband of 11 years, John Finneran; her daughter Suzy, Lake Wynonah; sister and brother-in-law, Martyanne and Ed Kubilus, Lake Wynonah; step children, John (Amanda) Finneran, Schuylkill Haven, Renee Medina, Frackville, and Brian (Krystal) Finneran, Barnesville; grandchildren, Marcus & Evan Medina, Daxton & Hadley Finneran; nieces, Jennifer Bettinger, Brooke Blankenhorn, and Lauren (Jeremy) Scheibelhut; six great nieces and nephews, many friends, and the young woman for whom she cared, Kristi Hall.
