Shirley M. (Hummel) Paleskie, 87, formerly of Shenandoah, passed away Thursday night, November 26, 2020 at Rosewood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Schuylkill Haven. Born May 3, 1933, in Pine Grove, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Viola (Owens) Hummel. Shirley was a graduate of Pine Grove Area High School. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a dietary aide at Shenandoah Manor Nursing Center. Shirley was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah, and the former Annunciation BVM Church. She was a loving mom and nana who treasured her family. Surviving are her son, Donald Maberry and his wife, Linda, of Cressona; two grandsons, Donald Maberry Jr. of Atlanta, Ga. and Eric Maberry, of Cressona. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. in Divine Mercy Church, 232 W. Cherry St., Shenandoah, with Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, pastor, as the celebrant. Interment will follow in Annunciation BVM Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. A visitation will be held prior to Mass on Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the church. All state and federal COVID-19 guidelines and regulations will be observed; masks and social distancing will be required.
