Obituary

Rose Marie A. Bonkowski, 75, formerly of West Poplar Street, Shenandoah passed away peacefully early Monday morning, July 10, 2023 at Luther Ridge at Seiders Hill, Pottsville. Born in Shenandoah on September 22, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Edward J. Bonkowski, Sr. and the late Rose Ann B. (Kiskierewicz) Bonkowski. Rose Marie was a 1965 graduate of the former Shenandoah Catholic High School. She then graduated from Saint Joseph's School of Nursing, Reading. She was a registered nurse and worked in medical facilities and hospitals in Philadelphia, Atlantic City and Boston. Rose Marie was a devout member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah, formerly St. Stanislaus Church. She was also a member of the Greater Shenandoah Area Senior Citizens. She was a loving daughter and Cioci. Rose Marie was a warm and caring person with strong faith. She endured much in life but always made the best of any situation that she faced. She enjoyed the many trips with her mother to Las Vegas; she also enjoyed the trips to Atlantic City, the local casinos and to destinations near and far with the seniors. Rose Marie loved her music, she not only enjoyed listening to her favorite tunes, but also singing along to them as well. Above all else, she treasured the time spent with her family, especially during the holidays. Her quick-witted personality was memorable and will be missed. She is now reunited with her family and friends. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was her brother, Edward J. "Bunker" Bonkowski, Jr. Surviving are her caregivers, her nephew and niece, James "Jim" Bonkowski of Shenandoah Heights and Nicole "Nikki" Bonkowski of Shenandoah Heights; her great-niece, Danielle DiNofa of Shenandoah Heights; her sister-in-law and caregiver, Janice Bonkowski Gaudreau of Shenandoah Heights; cousins and many friends. Funeral services will be privately held at the convenience of the family with interment in Saint Stanislaus Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor will officiate.
