Rita T. (Guziewicz) Zukowski, 81, of Bear Gap Road, Elysburg and formerly of Shenandoah, passed away Friday at her home.

She was born in Shenandoah on December 11, 1937, a daughter of the late Joseph and Clara (Denchy) Guziewicz.

She was a graduate of the former Shenandoah Catholic High School.

Throughout her life, Rita was a spiritual person and was a devout Catholic; she was member of Our Lady of Mercy Church, Slabtown, and St. Casimir's Church when she resided in Shenandoah.

She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed reading. Above all, her family was of most importance to her.

Surviving are one son, David Zukowski, of Elysburg; four daughters, Alicia Errichiello and her husband, Louis, of East Islip, New York, Cynthia Wemple, of Elysburg, Janet Nicholas and her husband, Bryant, of Lebanon, and Mary Kay Zukowski, of Elysburg; three grandchildren, Melissa Heintzelman, Patrick Forbes and Zachary Zukowski; three great-grandchildren, Caden, Esmae and Emeric; two brothers, Joseph Guziewicz, of Shenandoah, and Paul Guziewicz and his wife, Nancy, of Easton; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Walter A. Zukowski in 2006; and one brother, Theodore Guziewicz.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Casimir's Church, 229 N. Jardin St., Shenandoah, the sacred worship site of Divine Mercy Parish. Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, pastor, will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
