Raymond J. Stasulli, age 80 of 100 S. Main St., Shenandoah and a former resident of West Coal Street, Shenandoah passed away Wednesday evening at Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson.

Born in Shenandoah on July 3, 1933 he was a son of the late Michael and Anna (Mentusky) Stasulli.

He was a 1951 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah and was also a graduate of McCann School of Business, Mahanoy City where he earned his associates degree in business.

Ray was a decorated US Navy Veteran having served his country in the Korean War. He was awarded the Navy Occupation Service Medal (European Clasp) and the National Defense Service Medal.

Mr. Stasulli was employed for many years in Schuylkill County government. He was Deputy Controller for the County Controllers office. He was a Zoning Officer for the Schuylkill County Planning and Zoning. Lastly he served as Director of Veterans Affairs. He along with his late wife, Theresa were the former proprietors of the Tastee Freeze, Shenandoah Heights.

Ray was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Phoenix Fire Company, 500 Fish & Game Club, Amvets Post, Catholic War Veterans and the former Sons of Italy all of Shenandoah; he was also a member of the Six County Firemens Association. He was a volunteer for the former Phoenix Ambulance. Ray was a member of the Schuylkill County Republican Committee and formerly served as chairman of the Shenandoah Republican Party and was past chairman of the Shenandoah Sewer Authority.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his wife, the former Theresa Obzut who passed away in 2002 and one brother, Edward Ace Stasulli.

Surviving are one son, Raymond M. Stasulli and his wife Nela of Orwigsburg; one daughter, Angela Salvadore and her husband, Daniel P. of Shenandoah; four granddaughters, Hanna Stasulli of Philadelphia, Sofia Stasulli of Orwigsburg, Nina Delluso and her husband Joseph of Mahanoy City and Gianna Salvadore of Shenandoah; one great-granddaughter, Briella Delluso; four brothers, John Stasulli and his wife Rosemary of Hamburg, Anthony Stasulli and his wife Marcia of Meriden, Connecticut, Vincent Stasulli and his wife Marge of Shenandoah and Joseph Stasulli of Bastrop, Texas; two sisters, Jean Smith and her husband Sanford of Dauberville and Linda Zehner and her husband David of Walnutport; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will held Monday at 9:30 AM from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Shenandoah. Rev. Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Monday morning from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM.
