Obituary

Paul C.Poppy Pecunas, age 70 of Shenandoah passed away peacefully Friday morning at his home in the presence of his lovingfamily.

Bornin Shenandoah on January 26, 1944 he was the son of the late Alex and Anna(Navitsky) Pecunas.

Paul was raised in Mahanoy City and later graduated from Mahanoy Area High School in 1962.

Upon his high school graduation, Paul enlisted in the Navy and served his country during the Vietnam era. Upon his discharge he was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal. Later, he enlisted and was honorably discharged from the Army.

He was a retired correctional officer at SCI-Mahanoy.

Paul was a member of the Annunciation BVM Church, the Knights of Columbus, Francis Cardinal Brennan Council 618 and the Bible Prayer Group of St. Michaels Church all of Shenandoah and Bears Head Club, Delano. He was a past member of the Shenandoah Community Ambulance, the Phoenix Fire Company and the Rum Dums all of Shenandoah. He also served as past President of the UCP of Schuylkill County.

Paul was an avid fisherman, hunter, and lover of all things outdoors and enjoyed attending all activities of his grandchildren.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were a sister Rita and a brother Joseph.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Eileen; a son PaulJr., Erie; two daughters Heather Smalley and her husband Jason, LakeWynonah, and Allison Bolinsky and her husband Frank Jr., Orwigsburg, and a dedicated grandfather to Rylee and Aaron Bolinskyand Katie and Jake Smalley whom he adored and many friends.

Prayer and vigil services will be held Tuesday evening at 8:00 PM in Annunciation BVM Church, Shenandoah. Rev. Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor will officiate. Interment with military honors will be held Friday at 12:30 PM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Relatives and friends may call Tuesday evening at Annunciation BVM Church, Shenandoah from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah is in charge of the arrangements.
