Obituary

Paul Bereskie, age 82 of Girardville and a former resident of Shenandoah passed away Monday.

Born in Shenandoah on June 13, 1930 he was a son of the late John and Mildred (Korbich) Bereskie.

Paul was a decorated US Army Veteran having served in the Korean War. His decorations and citations include the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, the Combat Infantry Badge, the United Nations Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the A.P. Damato Medal of Honor Post #792, Shenandoah.

Prior to his retirement, he was a machine operator at Forbo Industries, Hazleton.

Paul enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman, swimmer and motorcycle enthusiast.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his wife, the former Lillian Demshock; a daughter, Mary Lynn Bereskie; a granddaughter, Michelle Leigh Anczarski; three brothers, John Jay , Mike and Peter Bereskie and three sisters, Amelia Dols, Pearl Bereskie and Mary Zakrzewski.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are a son, Paul Bereskie, Jr. and his wife Toni Ann of Germanville; a daughter, Barbara S. Anczarski and her husband Joseph of Zion Grove; four grandchildren, Lynn Anczarski, Joseph P. Anczarski, Ty Bereskie and Dakota Bereskie; a great-granddaughter, Penelope Ann Bereskie; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1:00PM at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. Rev. Dr. Kim Lengert, Pastor of Christs United Lutheran Church, Gordon will officiate. Interment will follow in Christs Church Cemetery, Fountain Springs.

Relatives and friends may call Wednesday at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until the time of services.
