Patrick J. Gilroy, Jr., 70 of Shenandoah passed away peacefully on Monday, July 11, 2022 at the Shenandoah Senior Living Community with his loving family by his side.
Born in Shenandoah on November 3, 1951, he was a son of the late Patrick Gilroy, Sr. and Vera (Lindenmuth) Gilroy.
He was a 1969 graduate of the former J.W. Copper High School, Shenandoah.
Mr. Gilroy was a decorated US Army Veteran having served his country from 1971 until 1974. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Expert Hand Grenade Badge and the Marksman M16 Badge.
Prior to his retirement, Patrick was employed at Jeld-Wen, Ringtown. Earlier in life, he worked at the former Rosa Breaker, Shenandoah and for the Borough of Shenandoah.
He attended the Aurand Memorial United Methodist Church, Ringtown. He was a member of the former Eagles Lodge, Shenandoah. Patrick was a coach and concessions volunteer for the Shenandoah Area Girls Softball League (SAG). He enjoyed sports, especially the Philadelphia teams, including the Phillies, Eagles and Flyers. Patrick was an accomplished bowler and held various records including one perfect game at the former Holiday Lanes, Shenandoah. In addition, he held the Schuylkill County Three Game Series record.
Surviving are his wife of almost forty-eight years, the former Leslie A. Zelli; one son, Joe Gilroy of Frackville; one daughter, Patti Gilroy of Mahanoy City; four grandchildren, Haley, Jovee, Joe and Justus; one brother, Michael "Mickey" Gilroy and his wife Ellen of Shenandoah; one sister, Susan "Suzie" Eye of Girardville; two sisters-in-law, Lisa Rhoads of Shenandoah and Joanne Weaver and her husband Rick of Conyngham; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Scripture services will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at 6:00 pm at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 South Jardin Street, Shenandoah with Rev. Julian J. Milewski officiating. Military honors will be conducted at 5:00 pm. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
