On June 4, 2023, Michelina Piccolo, loving mother of three, grandmother of six, and great-grandmother of five, passed away peacefully at the age of 94.
Michelina was born on March 19, 1929, in Magisano, Italy to the late Mary Catizone and Ralph Folino. She came to America in 1948 with her mother and lived in Girardville, PA where she reunited with her father who had been working as a coal miner.
She married Armando Piccolo, a local tailor, on September 4th, 1950 and settled in Shenandoah, PA where they raised one son and two daughters.
Michelina was an expert seamstress and worked for many years in Shenandoah factories designing dresses. She always loved working with her hands. She was an expert at knitting, crocheting, and gardening.
She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah and the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church where she was a dedicated volunteer for all parish functions and especially enjoyed the annual Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
Upon her retirement, she traveled to her homeland, Italy, several times, which she enjoyed tremendously. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would often come for weeks at a time to visit them. In 2017, she moved to Avon CT with her daughter Susan and her husband Dr. Justin Radolf.
Michelina is pre-deceased by her husband, mother, father, and sister, Carmella. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Anthony and Ann Piccolo of York, PA, Susan and Justin Radolf of Avon CT, and Maria and Wayne Cvach of Forest Hill, MD; six grandchildren, Kaitlin Rosenthal, Chrissy Piccolo, Elise McDonnell, Becky Radolf, Michelle Cvach and Nicholas Cvach; and five great-grandchildren, Eric Rosenthal, Riley Rosenthal, John Poole, Owen Poole, and Charlotte McDonnell. She is also survived by her sister's two sons and spouse, Ralph Catizone and Vincent and Giovanna Catizone.
