Michael L. Pietkiewicz ("Peck"), 56, of Jefferson, Maryland, passed away Wednesday, April 24th, 2024 surrounded by family and friends, at home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on September 30th, 1967 in Pottsville PA, he was the son of the late Stanley & Irene (Walukiewicz) Pietkiewicz.
He was a 1985 graduate of Shenandoah Valley High School and continued his education at Columbia University on an athletic & academic scholarship graduating with his bachelor's degree in Economics in 1989.
Mike was respected and loved by his co-workers, starting with JELD-WEN, managing window and door manufacturing, he moved on to other aspects of the construction industry. He successfully managed a framing/window and door installation division for a nationwide supplier and ended his career in warehouse/operations management for TNT Services Group, where he enjoyed cooking out for everybody and spending time with his co-workers.
Peck was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan with season tickets that he enjoyed sharing with everyone. Nobody was ever turned away from a tailgate when he was around. Mike married his wife of 16 years, Amy (nee Dettery), on the beach in Hatteras where they vacationed every year. He also loved spending his time at their home in Jefferson MD with his cat, "Kitty", where he tended his garden and grape vines, which he would ultimately turn into a yummy wine for his family and friends to enjoy.
Mike was predeceased by sister Diane in 2016.
In addition to his beloved wife, Amy, he is survived by three brothers, Stanley, Leo & Alan; sister, Janie Shustack; three nephews, Joseph, Tyler & Adrienne Shustack and Andy Pietkiewicz; and niece Carrissa Irene. He is also survived by great-nephews and great-niece, Landyn, Greyson, Joseph, Liberty ("Libby") and Neela Lee; his mother-in law, Maryellen Dettery, father-in-law, Larry Dettery Sr. and brothers-in-law, Joe & Larry Dettery Jr., aunts, cousins and many, many treasured friends who he celebrated and enjoyed life with.
