Mary Jo (Maley) Piekarski, 79, of Shenandoah, passed away peacefully with family present, on Sunday, March 28th, 2021.
Born in Shenandoah on December 2, 1941, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Martina) Maley. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her beloved grandson Robert "RJ" Piekarski, cousins Mary and William Mikalonis, and uncle and aunt Anthony and Rosie Ciotola.
Mary Jo's greatest joys in life were her children, Rob and Jodi, and her grandchildren, RJ and Taylor. She lived her life supporting them throughout their lives and ensuring they knew how much they were loved. She attended countless school functions, games, matches, dance recitals, and ceremonies throughout her life and recounted the joyous memories each event provided her over the years. Mary Jo also loved shopping and was always stylish and fashionable wherever she went, regardless if it was for a trip around town or to attend a social function. She was forever considerate of those in need and supported various charities near and dear to her heart.
She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah and the former St. Casimir and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Churches. She was a graduate of the J.W. Cooper High School in Shenandoah and a former member of the Glover's Hill Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are her son, Robert "Rob" Piekarski and his wife Bobbi, her daughter, Dr. Jodi Piekarski Loughlin and her husband Daniel, her beloved granddaughter, Taylor Ryann Loughlin, and former husband, Bob Piekarski, all of Shenandoah; a brother, James Maley and his wife Gloria, Emmaus; cousins, Mella Ciotola and Joseph Ciotola, Shenandoah, Pam and Eddie Chizauskie, Frackville; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating her life, will be held on Wednesday, April 7th, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in Divine Mercy Church, 232 West Cherry St., Shenandoah with Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor as the celebrant. Visitation will be held on Wednesday morning at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. All state and federal COVID-19 guidelines and regulations will be observed; masks and social distancing will be required. As per Mary Jo's wishes, interment in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights will remain strictly private for her immediate family and held at their convenience.
