Obituary

Mary Ann K. (Kilker) Link, 71, of Lost Creek, passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon at home surrounded by her family.

Born in Washington, Pa., June 2, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Carduff) Kilker.

She was a 1964 graduate of the former Shenandoah Catholic High School.

Mary Ann was formerly employed at the Schuylkill County Department of Public Welfare, Pottsville, the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Harrisburg, and the Schuylkill County Mental Health and Mental Retardation, Pottsville. She was last employed as the manager of the Coal Street Village Apartments, Shenandoah, having recently retired. In addition, for many years, she was elected and served as the West Mahanoy Township Tax Collector. She was also the former proprietor of the former Coal Street Cafe, Shenandoah.

Mary Ann was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah, formerly St. Mary Magdalene Church, Lost Creek, where she actively volunteered her time and talents for the benefit of the church. She was the secretary of the ShenandoahRotary Club. She was also a member of the former West End Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Lost Creek.

She was a talented craftmaker, especially with wreath designs. She was well known for her cake-baking and decorating skills. Mary Ann was proud of her Irish heritage. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, was her former husband, Joseph W. "Greb" Link.

Surviving are two daughters, Lorianne Link, Lost Creek, and Mary Jo Link and her daughter, the love of Mary Ann's life, her granddaughter, Isabella, Lost Creek; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. A Mass of Christian Burial will then be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Casimir's Church, the sacred worship site of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah. Interment will follow in the Annunciation BVM Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.

Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy can be made to the scholarship fund for her granddaughter, Isabella Link-Spiess, c/o M&T Bank, 2 S. Main St., Shenandoah, PA 17976.
