Obituary

Marie L. (Hentz) Monahan, 82 of 200 E. Coal St., Shenandoah, Shenandoah Village Apartments, formerly of Schuylkill Ave., Shenandoah Heights, passed away peacefully Friday at Good Shepherd Specialty Hospital, Lehigh Valley Muhlenberg, Bethlehem. She was the wife of the late Francis P. Monahan.

Born in Shenandoah Heights on August 16, 1928, Marie was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Larkin) Hentz.

She was a graduate of the former West Mahanoy Twp. High School, Class of 1947.

Marie was a retired garment worker having worked in the local garment industry.

She was a member of Annunciation BVM Church, Shenandoah; Greater Shenandoah Area Senior Citizens and ILGWU.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband were a sister Jule Gilfert; four brothers Pvt. John J. Hentz, Bernard Hentz, Leo Hentz and Donald Hentz.

Surviving are three sons, Fran Monahan and his companion Martina Nestor of Shenandoah, Joey Monahan and his wife Anita of Shenandoah Heights and Jackie Monahan of Shenandoah; three daughters, Donna wife of Bill Walters of Schuylkill Haven, Mary Ellen wife of Greg Fribance of Nazareth and Shelly wife of Art Hower of Elysburg; two sisters, Carol wife of John Reilly of Ashland and Joanne Lazusky of Frackville; one brother, Vincent Hentz and his wife Betty of Fairless Hills; fourteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed her many trips to the casino as well as vacations with her family in Florida.

Marie will be Sadly Missed But Never Forgotten..

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday morning at 10:30 am from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am in Annunciation BVM Church, Shenandoah. Rev. Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor will officiate. Committal Services will be held in Annunciation BVM Chapel, Shenandoah Heights with interment to follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Wednesday morning from 9:00 am to 10:30 am.

Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah is in charge of the arrangements.
