Marie E. Kufro, 80, of Shenandoah, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

Marie was born at the former Locust Mountain General Hospital on September 15th, 1946, a daughter of the late Joseph and Frances Bernet. A 1964 graduate of the former JW Cooper School in Shenandoah, she was a lifelong homemaker who enjoyed cooking and reading, as well as spending time with her pets.

Marie also worked part time as a waitress in various local catering venues including the former Shenandoah AmVets, St. Mary's Hall in Mahanoy City and the Lyric.

In addition to her parents, Marie was also preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Kufro in 2008; her daughter Brenda Kufro in 2016. and by a brother, Joseph Bernet.

Marie is survived by a son, Richard J. Kufro of Fountain Springs, along with his fiancée, Karen Reilly. 

Brothers and sisters in-law, nieces and nephews also survive.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Scripture Service on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2026 at 10 AM at the Walukiewicz Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 South Jardin Street, Shenandoah .  A viewing will be held from 9-10 AM prior to the service.

Marie will be laid to rest in Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights, immediately following the service.
