Margaret (Cavanaugh) Kowalick, 94, of Lost Creek, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday morning at Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street.

Born in Lost Creek, July 26, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Margaret Reilly Cavanaugh.

She was a graduate of the former West Mahanoy Township High School.

After Peg raised her children, she went to work at the former Tobias clothing store in Shenandoah.

She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Girardville, and was also a member of the former St. Mary Magdalen Roman Catholic Church, Lost Creek.

For many years, Peg loved to gather with her friends at her favorite restaurant in Girardville, McDonald's.

She was an avid baseball fan devoted to the Phillies. She enjoyed reading and never missed a chance to gamble. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Peg was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Kowalick, in 1988; a son, Carl Kowalick, in 2006; two sisters, Ann Breslin, in 1991, and Mary Kelly, in 2003; and one beloved niece, Ann Farina, in 2001.

Surviving are her daughter, with whom she resided, Christine Kowalick, Lost Creek; five sons, Anthony Kowalick and his wife, Susan, Barnesville, Daniel Kowalick, Lost Creek, James Kowalick, Shenandoah Heights, William Kowalick and his wife, Colleen, Pottsville, and Thomas Kowalick and his wife, Heather, Shenandoah Heights; a daughter-in-law, Judy Kowalick, Tucson, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:15 a.m. Saturday from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Church, Girardville. The Rev. Edward B. Connolly, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, Fountain Springs.

Relatives and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8 to 10:15 a.m. Saturdayat the funeral home.
