Leonard P. Wonderlick, age 61 of Shenandoah, passed away Sunday at Schuylkill Medical Center-East, Pottsville.
Born in the former Ashland State Hospital on August 2, 1952, he was a son of the late Leonard J. and Kathryn (Kurchock) Wonderlick.
Lenny was raised in Frackville and later moved to Shenandoah, where he graduated from Shenandoah Valley High School in the Class of 1970.
He was an auto mechanic and welder, having last been employed at Bobs Auto, Shenandoah.
Lenny was a member of St. Stanislaus Church, Shenandoah. He was a former football coach for the Shenandoah Valley Jr. Blue Devils and a former baseball coach for the Shenandoah Little League.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his wife, the former Louise M. Lapata, who died on June 28, 2004.
Surviving are one son, David B. Wonderlick and his wife Stephanie and their son, Lennys grandson, Henry Wonderlick, all of Vienna, VA; one sister, Donna Kulpowicz and her husband Robert Bob of Shenandoah; one brother, Robert Wonderlick and his wife Darlene of Charleston, SC; his companion, Karen Patrick; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 am from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11:00 am in St. Stanislaus Church, Shenandoah. Rev. Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday at the funeral home from 9:00 am to 10:30 am.
Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, Shenandoah, is in charge of the arrangements.
