Obituary

Leonard J. Pin Petroshonis, age 93 of E. Centre St., Shenandoah passed away Tuesday at Lehigh Valley Medical Center-Cedar Crest, Allentown.

Born in Minersville on January 25, 1921 he was the son of the late John & Maria (Sirvinskas) Petroshonis.

He was educated in the local Minersville schools.

Mr. Petroshonis was a decorated World War II Army Veteran having served in the Campaign of the Rhineland. He received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal with one bronze service star.

After marrying his late wife, the former Mary Nalipi who preceded him in death on February 9, 2009 he spent the greater part of his life as a resident of Shenandoah.

Leonard worked in the construction trade as a laborer and member of the Building & Trade Local #1174, Reading and the Laborers Heavy and Highway Local #158, Harrisburg.

He was also a member of Annunciation BVM Church, the Amvets Post and theCatholic War Veterans, all of Shenandoah.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents and his wife of 40 years were siblings and a niece, Kathleen A. Kathy Rooney on July 28, 2012.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving are one sister-in-law, Dorothy Finneran, Shenandoah; a nephew, John A. Yonko Finneran and his wife Suzanne, Mechanicsville; great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, 11:30 AM from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12:00 Noon in Annunciation BVM Church, Shenandoah. Fr. Johnson, O.S.J., Parochial Vicar will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in Annunciation BVM Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.

Relatives and friends may call Friday at the funeral home from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. There will be no calling hours Thursday evening.

Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, Shenandoah is in charge of the arrangements.
