Leona (Bubnis) Witkowski, age 89 of Minersville and a former resident of William Penn, West Mahanoy Township passed away Saturday morning at Golden LivingCenter – York Terrace, Pottsville.
Born in William Penn on February 12, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Matthew and Rose (Madonis) Bubnis.
She was a member of St. Matthew the Evangelist Church, Minersville.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her husband, Walter Witkowski; a stepson, Walter Sonny Witkowski; an infant grandson, Brian Witkowski; four brothers, Joseph and William Selconis and John and Leonard Bubnis and two sisters, Anna Remaley and Frances Gatti.
Surviving are one daughter, Rose M. Barton and her husband, Michael of Minersville; two sons, Michael Witkowski and his wife Judy of Minersville and Robert Witkowski and his wife Judy of Lake Wynonah; one brother, Albert Phil Bubnis of Shenandoah Heights; five grandchildren, Michael Barton, Kevin Witkowski, Maria Barton, Keith Witkowski and Monica OBrien; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 10:30 AM at St. Matthew the Evangelist Church, Minersville. Rev. Leo J. Maletz, Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday morning at the church from 9:15 AM until the time of services.
