Obituary

Leo Peter Orlowsky, age 89 of 321 S. Ferguson St., Shenandoah passed away suddenly Tuesday at his residence.

Born in Shenandoah on August 11, 1924 he was a son of the late Alex and Eva (Martinitius) Orlowsky.

Leo was a decorated World War II Army Veteran. His decorations and citations include the Good Conduct Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four bronze stars.

He was a retired union construction worker.

Leo was a member of St. Casimir Church, Shenandoah and one of the oldest members of the A.P. Damato Medal of Honor Post #792, Shenandoah and the American Legion Post also of Shenandoah. He was a member of the AFL-CIO Laborers District Construction Union where he was awarded a certificate for sixty years of service.

He was a loving and caring father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle to his family. Leo was well known and will be missed by his many friends at The Joint in Shenandoah.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his wife, the former Rose Lawnick who passed away on August 18, 2001 and two brothers, Stanley and Alex Orlowsky.

Surviving are his daughter and caregiver, Diane Butcher, RN with who he resided; two granddaughters, Rosalynne Letcavage of Pottsville and Christine Pribish and her husband John of Shenandoah; three great-grandchildren, Stephen Letcavage of Corning, NY, Joseph Letcavage of Shenandoah and Abigale Rose Pribish of Shenandoah; one sister, Helen Clark of Tennessee, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Casimir Church, Shenandoah. Rev. Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow at 12:30 p.m. in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. At that time, his late wife Rose Orlowsky will also be interred with him.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. There will be no calling hours Monday evening.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, Shenandoah is in charge of the arrangements.
