Obituary

Joseph Anthony Petrusky, 85, of Catawissa, passed peacefully Monday night at his residence with his family and friends by his side.

Born in Ashland, Feb. 26, 1930, he was a son of the late Joseph and Eva Kroh Petrusky.

He was a graduate of the former Butler Township High School.

Joe was a Navy veteran.

He was a retired electrician, having been employed by Beck Electric, Sunbury.

Joe was a member of St. John the Baptist Polish National Catholic Church, Frackville, and prior to that was a member of the former Holy Ghost Polish National Catholic Church, Shenandoah, where he served as the parish committee chairman as well as the cemetery committee chairman. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge and Washington Fire Company, both in Ashland.

He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed tinkering with electronics and woodworking.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lauren Feudale; two sisters, Mary Zeller and Kate Matthews.

Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Theresa Zamonas Petrusky; two daughters, Jolene Johnston and her husband, Scott, Fishers, Ind., and Jiselle Petrusky, Long Island, N.Y.; stepchildren, Michele McGlynn-Feudale, Conover, N.C., and Mark McGlynn and his wife, Tammy, Thornton, Colo.; children, Thomas and Linda Petrusky; grandchildren; a brother, William Petrusky and his wife, Carol, Ashland; a sister, Jean Pogash and her husband, Stanley, Ashland; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday morning at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Polish National Catholic Church, Frackville. The Rev. Robert Plictha, pastor, will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in Holy Ghost Polish National Catholic Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Friday.
