Obituary

Joseph A. Joe Shomoskie, age 62 of 1151 W. Center St., Shenandoah passed away suddenly Saturday at St. Catherine Medical Center., Fountain Springs, Butler Township.

Born in Shenandoah on May 3, 1948, he was the son of the late Edward J. and Beatrice Matalavage Shomoskie.

He was a 1966 graduate of J. W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.

Joe was a decorated Vietnam Army Veteran. His decorations and citations include the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service and Campaign Medals, the Good Conduct Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.

Joe was a co-owner of E & J Dismantling Co., Shenandoah with his brother Edward.

He was a member of St. Georges Church, Shenandoah and a life member of Shenandoah Heights Amvets Post # 116.

Surviving are his wife of 35 years, the former Linda L. Straub, a brother Edward M. Shomoskie of Shenandoah; three nieces, McKenzie Shomoskie and Dana Mazack both of Shenandoah and Susan Smith of Pottsville; one aunt, Florence Yanall of Shenandoah Heights and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday morning at 10:30 am from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S Jardin St., Shenandoah. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am in St. Casimir Church, Shenandoah. Rev. Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Dawn Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 9:00 am to 10:30 am.
