Joseph B. Joe DeLuca, 67, of Brandonville passed away suddenly on Dec. 7 while returning home from a trip to California.

Born in Shenandoah on Dec. 24, 1947, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Anuscavage) DeLuca.

Joe was a 1965 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.

On June 23, 1973, he married the former Carole Ann Obzut, who survives.

Joe and his wife shared the passion of their lives by owning and operating DeLuca Busing for 40 years for the Hazleton Area School District until 2012, when they retired. Joe was a true automobile enthusiast at heart. His passion was evident in the second business that the couple shared, which was Obzuts Auto Sales, a small car dealership in Brandonville.

Joe was a well known and liked man in the area. He proudly served as a East Union Township supervisor for two terms.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 42 years, are his son, Joseph J. DeLuca, Brandonville; and his daughter, Carolyn DeLuca, Hawaii.
