“Butchie” Sherlin

Joseph J. "Butchie" Sherlin, 68, of Ringtown, passed away peacefully Thursday morning at his residence.
Born in Shenandoah, Sept. 20, 1948, he was a son of the late Joseph and Edna (Wall) Sherlin.
He was a 1967 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.
Joseph retired from the former Ashland State Hospital where he was employed as a central supply technician.
He was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Shenandoah Fish & Game Protective Association, Zion Grove.
Butchie was an avid outdoorsman; he loved fishing, hunting and crabbing in Maryland with his many friends.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were a sister, Joan J. Zukowski; a brother, John W. Murray; his pet Sheltie, "Buddy."
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, the former Lola A. Runge; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends, including his best friend, Howard Mummey, Zion Grove. He is also survived by his loyal miniature schnauzer, "Buttons."
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah, is in charge of the arrangements.
