John T. McGuire, 70 of Ringtown passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, November 5, 2020 at his residence with his loving wife, Peggy at his side.
Born in Shenandoah on July 9, 1950 he was the son of the late John J. and Lottie (Grutza) McGuire.
He was a 1968 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah. He then attended the Philadelphia School of Technology for computer training.
John's fifty-four year career in the grocery supermarket business began at the former Genetti's Supermarket, Shenandoah. He then worked for the former Anthony's Supermarket in Frackville as the produce manager and then after being acquired by the former T.J. Bart's as produce manager and store manager. He then continued as either produce manager or store manager for Boyers at their various locations. Prior to his retirement, he last was employed as a produce manager for Boyer's Food Markets in Mount Carmel. He was often referred to as the "store ambassador" as he greeted all of his customers with a smile and knew each of them by their name.
He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah.
John was a wonderful and loving husband as well as a devoted brother, uncle, nephew and friend to all.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his aunts who were like mothers to him throughout his life.
Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret Ann "Peggy" Agresto to whom he was married 44 years; one sister, Debra Salvadore and her husband Thomas of Shenandoah; nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and his faithful companion, his Lab "Lu Lu".
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 9, 2020 at 12:00 noon in Divine Mercy Church, Shenandoah with Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor as the celebrant. Interment will follow in Saint Casimir's Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. All state and federal COVID-19 guidelines and regulations will be observed; masks and social distancing will be required.
