John P. "Jack" Lebby, 79, a former resident of Shenandoah currently residing with his son and daughter-in-law, John Paul and Amanda Lebby of Barnesville passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at the Lebanon VA Medical Center.
Born in Shenandoah on February 8, 1943, he was a son of the late John Joseph and Regina Mary (Bokuniewicz) Lebby (Lebiedziewski).
He was a 1960 graduate of the former Shenandoah Catholic High School.
Mr. Lebby was a decorated Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam era from 1964 until 1966. He received the Sharpshooter (Rifle) and the National Defense Service Medal.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for Ateeco Inc., Mrs. T's Pierogies, Shenandoah. Earlier in life, he was employed for the former Dixon-Wearever Inc., Deer Lake.
He was a member of the former Saint Stanislaus Church, Shenandoah. He was a charter member of the 500 Fish and Game Club, Shenandoah. He was also a member of the Shenandoah Heights Fire Company.
Jack was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a pool shark. As a sport's fan, his favorite teams were the Philadelphia Flyers, the Philadelphia Eagles and Penn State Football. Above all else, he cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his brother, Paul Lebby; his sister, Phyllis Smith and one nephew, Steven Smith.
Surviving are his son, John Paul Lebby and his wife Amanda of Barnesville with their children, JohnPaul Lebby, Naomi Kowalick and Chase Lebby; his daughter, Laura Reed and her husband Kris of Marysville and their children, Senior Airman Kohl J. Reed (USAF), Brye Wojcik, Kylie Reed and Kendall Reed; his sister, Maryann Walukonis of Frederick, Maryland; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends including Kevin Parker of Shenandoah Heights and his dog, "Reaper".
The family would like to thank St. Luke's Home Hospice and the Lebanon VA Hospice for the special care and concern shown to Jack.
Religious services will be held on Friday, June 17, 2022 at 10:30 am at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 South Jardin St., Shenandoah. Deacon John Setlock will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in Saint Stanislaus Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. A visitation will be held on Friday morning from 9:00 am until 10:30 am at the funeral home.
