Obituary

John Ondusko Jr., 81, a guest at Ridgeview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Shenandoah Heights, passed away peacefully Wednesday at Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street.

Born in Turkey Run, Shenandoah, Feb. 15, 1934, he was a son of the late John Sr. and Julia Churlish Ondusko.

John was a 1951 graduate of the former West Mahanoy Township High School. He attended the University of Louisville and the Philadelphia Conservatory of Music.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 32 years at Hazleton Pump as a machinist.

John was an accomplished musician; he served as the former organist for 45 years at St. John's Lutheran Church, Brandonville. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Frackville.

John was passionate about music and enjoyed woodworking and repairing cars.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Sarah Zimmerman.

Surviving are a son, David Ondusko and his wife, Debbie, Lehighton; two granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Russell Ondusko and his wife, Jessica, Browns Mills, N.J.; his dear friend, Dolores Trutt, Shenandoah; nieces and nephews.

Prayer and scripture services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. Pastor Peggy Sue Pfeffer will officiate. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. Relatives and friends may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, Shenandoah, is in charge of the arrangements.
