Obituary

John A. Burba, 89, of Shenandoah, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street.

Born in Shenandoah, March 28, 1927, he was a son of the late Adam and Anna Shumski Burba.

He was a graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.

John was a decorated World War II Navy veteran having served in the Pacific Theater of Operations. His decorations include the Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon and the Victory Medal.

Prior to his retirement, he was a machine operator at the former Purolator Products, Pattersonville.

John was a member of Divine Mercy Church, Shenandoah, and prior to that the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Shenandoah.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Angeline "Angie" Rauco; two brothers, Adam and Joseph Burba; two sisters, Anna Schlack and Bertha Wandzliak.

Surviving are a sister-in-law and caregiver, Theresa Kolonsky, Shenandoah; nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, great-great-nieces and -nephews and cousins.

A religious services with the Rev. Jose Johnson officiating and interment with military honors will be private at the convenience of the family. Expressions of sympathy can be made to Divine Mercy Parish Memorial Fund, 108 W. Cherry St., Shenandoah, PA 17976 or Trinity Academy, 233 W. Cherry St., Shenandoah, PA 17976.
