John A. Banaszewski, Sr., age 55 of 34 North Catherine Street, Shenandoah passed away Friday at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center after a long courageous battle with juvenile diabetes.
Born in Shenandoah on June 19, 1956 he is the son of Anne Marie (Yancius) Banaszewski of Shenandoah and the late Anthony E. Banaszewski.
He was a 1974 graduate of Shenandoah Valley High School.
John had worked as a carpenter in the home building trade.
He was a member of St. Casimirs Church, Shenandoah.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife of 32 years, the former Deborah Ketusky; a son, John A. Banaszewski, Jr. of Shenandoah; two daughters, Julia wife of Lawrence Karpovich of Weston Place, Shenandoah and Aimee wife of Kyle Kerlavage of William Penn, Shenandoah; two grandsons, Christopher Banaszewski and Owen John Kerlavage; three brothers, Paul, Joseph and Anthony Banaszewski; three sisters, Antoinette and Ann Banaszewski and Mary Fore; nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning at 11:00 am in St. Casimirs Church, Shenandoah. Rev. Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Casimirs Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.
Relatives and friends may call at the church Wednesday morning from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. There will be no services from the funeral home.
Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah is in charge of the arrangements.
