Jerome G. "Jerry" Examitas, 90, of Brandonville, passed away peacefully early Monday morning at Broad Mountain Health and Rehabilitation Center, Frackville.
Born in Shenandoah, March 15, 1926, he was a son of the late Joseph E. and Mary Norkunski Examitas.
He was a graduate of the former West Mahanoy Township High School, Shenandoah Heights.
Jerry was a decorated Marine Corps veteran, having served his country inWorld War II.
Earlier he worked as a mechanic for Rinaldi Auto Dealerships, Shenandoah. He later retired from the shipping department of Forbo Industries, Hazleton.
He was a member of the former St. George Church, Shenandoah, Ringtown American Legion Post and the former Brandonville Fire Company.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by three brothers, Joseph, Albert and Eugene Examitas; two sisters, Evelyn Lawton and Irene Rakowsky.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years, the former Barbara Skarupsky; a daughter, Sandra M. Swank and her husband, Daniel, Brandonville; three grandchildren, Tani Marie Oslar and her husband, Christopher, Shawn Swank and his wife, Brenda, and Daniel J. Swank and his wife, Kelly; three great-grandchildren, Harrison, Christopher and Cierra; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services and interment with military honors will be held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, at the convenience of the family. Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian will officiate.
Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah, is in charge of the arrangements.
