Obituary

Jeanette J. Brower, 101, of Drums, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon at Mountain City Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Hazle Township.

Born in Wildwood, N.J., July 11, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Anna Adler Brower.

Jeanette was a member of the Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service, the WAVES, which was the World War II women's branch of the U.S. Naval Reserve. She served at the Naval Air Station, Willow Grove, and was promoted to Chief Storekeeper (disbursing), first WAVE Chief at NAS, Willow Grove. She received the World War II Victory Medal, the American Theatre Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

She was a retired banker, having been employed at Fidelity Bank, Philadelphia.

Jeanette was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Shenandoah, where she actively volunteered much time with the annual Easter Egg project and Freeland Presbyterian Church, where she volunteered at the free clothing giveaway. She was also a member of the Drums Soroptimist Sorority.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are her companion and caregiver, Mary Ann Dunlap Lepera, RN, Drums, and her family, Dr. Pamela Lepera, Thomas Lepera, Ann Mary Giaimo and James Dunlap.

A religious services with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church Chapel, 38 E. Oak St., Shenandoah. The Rev. Christopher Wollyung, pastor, will officiate. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church chapel.
