Jean A. Joyce, 73, of Ashland, formerly of Lost Creek No. 2, passed away Saturday morning at Ridgeview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Shenandoah Heights.
Born in Lost Creek No. 2, Aug. 19, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Jennie I. Possessky Joyce.
She was a graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.
Prior to her retirement, she was the receptionist at Ateeco Inc., Mrs. T's Pierogies, Shenandoah.
She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah. Prior to that she was a member of the former St. George Church, Shenandoah, and the former St. Mary Magdalene Church, Lost Creek, where she was also a member of its auxiliary.
Jean was a former Shenandoah Valley school board member, where she served for eight years. She was also a former member of the West Mahanoy Township election board.
Surviving are a son, Thomas Zarcufsky and his wife, Melissa, Ringtown; three grandsons, Thomas, Garrison and James; a granddaughter, Jennie; a great-grandson, Brantley James; a sister, Ann I. Joyce, and an uncle, Albert Drogalis, both residents of Ridgeview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Shenandoah Heights; cousins and many friends.
Religious services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. The Rev. Jose Johnson will officiate. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Dawn Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.
Relatives and friends may call from 9 until 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, Shenandoah, is in charge of the arrangements.
