Obituary

James T. "Jim" Tedesco, 73 of Shenandoah passed away on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill East Norwegian Street, Pottsville. Born in Shenandoah on July 25, 1949, he was the son of the late Louis and Veronica "Vera" (Opanel) Tedesco. He was a 1967 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah. Mr. Tedesco was a decorated Vietnam Army Veteran. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Prior to his retirement, Jim was employed in construction. He was a member of the former Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Shenandoah. Jim was also a member of the 500 Fish and Game Club, Shenandoah, the former AMVETS Post, Shenandoah and the American Legion a US Veterans Association. He enjoyed trips to the local casinos. Above all else, he cherished the time spent with his family and in more recent years, his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife of fifty years, the former Kathryn "Kate" Garvey; two sons, Jeffrey Tedesco and his wife Nina of Frackville and Gino Tedesco and his wife Katie of Barnesville; three grandchildren, Victor Tedesco, Vinetta Tedesco and Vincent Robert Tedesco; one brother, Michael Tedesco and his wife Louise of Shenandoah Heights; three sisters-in-law, Ellen Gilroy and her husband Michael of Shenandoah, Patricia Mackavage of Shenandoah and Janet Shearn of Alburtis; two brothers-in-law, Michael and John Garvey both of Shenandoah; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Religious and military services will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at 11:00 am at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah with Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, Shenandoah is in care of the arrangements.
