Irene A. Discavage, CRNA, 86 of Pottsville formerly of Shenandoah, passed away on Thursday morning, November 2, 2023 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill East Norwegian Street, Pottsville. Born in William Penn on January 28, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Albert & Anna (Bernotsky) Discavage. She was a graduate of the former West Mahanoy Township High School, Shenandoah Heights, the Pottsville School of Nursing and the Reading Hospital School of Anesthesiology. Irene retired from Sacred Heart Hospital, Norristown as a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA). Earlier she was employed as a registered nurse and CRNA at local hospitals. She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah and the former Saint George Church. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were three brothers, George, Albert and Joseph Discavage. Surviving are her brother, Thomas J. Discavage of Hazle Township; nieces, nephews and cousins. Her family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to her special caregiver, Lynn Danouski for the compassion, kindness and care she gave Irene. A private Mass of Christian Burial and interment in Our Lady of Dawn Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights will be held at the convenience of the family.
