Irene A. (Noonan) Avenoso, 93 of Shenandoah passed away early Monday morning, November 15, 2021 at Lehigh Valley Hospital Hospital-Schuylkill East, Pottsville. Born in Shenandoah on June 28, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Ethel (Wyatt) Noonan. Irene was a 1946 graduate of the former East Mahanoy Township High School. She was a retired seamstress having been employed in the local garment industry. She was a member of the ILGWU. Irene was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah. Prior to that, she was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church where she was a member and past president of the Sacred Heart Sodality. She also was the caretaker and sacristan for the church for many years. She was a dedicated pierogy maker for Divine Mercy Parish. Irene was also a member of the Greater Shenandoah Area Senior Citizens where she was often seen working in the kitchen. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her first husband John F. Rock on February 25, 1976 and her second husband, Edmond "Lefty" Avenoso on December 11, 2008; one brother, Joseph Noonan, Jr.; and one sister, Theresa Buckley. Surviving are her sister, Dolores Micko of Shenandoah; her dear friend who was a great help to her, Franklin "Frank" Miller of Shenandoah; her friend, Mary Ann Pronio of Shenandoah; nieces and nephews with their families and many friends also survive. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning, November 19, 2021 at 9:15 am in St. Casimir Church, 229 North Jardin St., Shenandoah, the sacred worship site of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah. Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. A visitation will be held on Friday morning in St. Casimir Church from 8:15 am until 9:15 am. Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah is in charge of the arrangements.
