Helen T. (Baker) McCann, age 97, a former resident of Florida Ave, Shenandoah Heights died peacefully Sunday at Tel Hai Retirement Community in Honey Brook.
Born in Hazleton on April 23, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Robert S. and Nellie (Friel) Baker.
Helen was a graduate of Hazleton High School.
She was a member of Annunciation BVM Church and a member and former officer of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Annunciation, both of Shenandoah.
Helen was married to Austin J. McC,ann who preceded her in death in 1994. They raised their family of three sons in Shenandoah. Helen is survived by sons, James P. McCann and his wife Claire of Laurel, MD, Robert M. McCann and his wife Mary Kay of West Chester, and Joseph P. McCann and his wife Judy of Hatfield; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eugene Gene Baker of Peoria, IL and Thomas Baker of Bel Air, MD; nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband were three brothers, John, Joseph and Robert Baker.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service Thursday at 11:00 AM at Tel Hai Community, 1200 Tel Hai Circle, Honey Brook, PA 19344. All are also invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Friday at 11:00 AM in Annunciation BVM Church, Shenandoah. Rev. Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in Annunciation BVM Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Tel Hai Employee Fund or the Tel Hai Community, 1200 Tel Hai Circle, Box 190, Honey Brook, PA 19344.
Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah is in charge of the arrangements.
