Georgine Marie (Demanchick) Leshko, 75, passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 after a long illness. She resided in Sugarloaf and was a former Shenandoah resident.
Georgine was born in Shenandoah on September 15, 1946. She was the daughter of the late George and Elsie (Gervel) Demanchick.
She was a 1964 graduate of the former Immaculate Heart Academy, Fountain Springs and the Patricia Stevens Business School, Philadelphia.
Georgine enjoyed working in many occupations during her career including fashion, education, consulting, and partnered with her husband in a family business.
She had a passion for travel and travelled extensively, mainly in Europe. Georgine enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was the first to step up and help everyone. Georgine had a deep and abiding faith in God. She was a great supporter of churches and many charitable causes. Georgine was a gracious and giving woman and many benefited from her tenderhearted spirit. Her kind and loving nature will be missed by all who love her.
Preceding her in death along with her parents was her sister, Dolores (Demanchick) Galitsky.
Surviving are her husband Robert T. Leshko, with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage on October 9, 2021. Also surviving are her sister's children, Sharon Galitsky, Kenneth Galitsky and his wife Bonnie Galitsky; her great nephew, David Galitsky and his wife Kassie. Additional survivors on Robert's side of the family are five nephews and nine nieces, great nephews and nieces, one great-great niece, brother-in-law, Thomas Leshko and his wife Jean, and brother-in-law, Theodore "Ted" Bartol.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 10:00 am in Holy Rosary Church, 240 South Poplar Street, Hazleton. Father Arbogaste Satoun will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation before mass at Holy Rosary Church on Tuesday morning from 9:00 am until 10:00 am.
