Frances E. (Carls) Pitts, age 86 of Girardville passed away peacefully Monday at the Shenandoah Senior Living Community.

Born in Shenandoah on January 20, 1928 she was a daughter of the late Otto and Ruth (Parish) Carls.

Frances was a 1946 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.

Mrs. Pitts was a retired garment worker having worked in the local garment industry. She was a member of the ILGWU. She was also a member of the United Church of Christ, Shenandoah.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her husband Charles A. Scat Pitts, Jr. on April 17, 2014 and a sister, Jean Schlemmer.

Surviving are two sons, Dr. Carl A. Pitts, Philadelphia and Kurt Pitts and his wife Elizabeth, Hometown; one daughter, Ruth Ann Withers and her husband Wayne, Orwigsburg; three grandchildren, James Withers and Samantha and Travis Pitts; one sister, Ruth Straub, Shenandoah; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Prayer and scripture services will be held Friday 11:00 am at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. Rev. Janet L. Kline will officiate. Interment will follow in the United Protestant Cemetery, Girardville.

Relatives and friends may call Friday at the funeral home from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.
