Florence J. Flossie Piaskowski, 89 of Shenandoah passed away on Monday at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg surrounded by her family.
Born in Shenandoah on April 7, 1928 she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Constance (Szczyglak) Bralczyk.
Flossie was educated in the local Shenandoah schools.
She was a seamstress for many years before acquiring her cosmetology license later in life. She was last employed at Betty Ann Bugdens Total Image Salon, Shenandoah.
Flossie was active in Shenandoahs Centennial celebrations and the annual Heritage Day festivities. She was a member of the Polka Belles, the Polish Ladies Social Club and the Greater Shenandoah Area Senior Citizens. She was a former officer and member of the Little League and Babe Ruth organizations. As a member of the Democratic Party, she worked for many years during elections at the polls.
Her love of singing was evident as she was a member of the Schuylkill County Polish Choraliers and St. Cecilias Choir of St. Casimirs Church for over twenty years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Piaskowski in 1993; one brother, Charles Bralczyk; three sisters, Bertha Zuber, Helen Richards and Stella Steslow.
She is survived by three daughters, Diane Kalyan and her husband Ron of Shenandoah, Elaine Alexander and her husband Joseph of Reading and Lisa Naugle and her husband David of Wyomissing; one son, Bernard Sanders and his wife Donna of Shenandoah; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Theresa Sefcik and her husband Anthony of College Park, MD; one brother, Anthony Bralczyk and his wife Dolores of Aston; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday morning at 10:30 am from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. A Mass of Christian Burial will then be celebrated at 11:00 am in St. Casimirs Church, 229 N. Jardin St. Shenandoah, the sacred worship site of Divine Mercy Parish. Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Casimirs Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.
A viewing will be held on Friday morning from 8:30 am until 10:30 am at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Fr. Walter J. Ciszek Chapel Memorial Fund, c/o 108 W. Cherry St., Shenandoah, PA 17976 and will be available at the funeral home.
Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, Shenandoah is in charge of the arrangements.
