Eugene J. Gene Hemerick of 9 Hemerick Lane, Union Township Ringtown passed away Friday at his residence with family by his side.

Born in Shenandoah, he was the son of the late Joseph Jerry and Eva (Kwedder) Hemerick.

Gene was a graduate of the former Shenandoah Catholic High School.

He worked for the former Purolator Products as a chief inspector, then in maintenance at the former Locust Mt. State General Hospital. He retired from the Hazleton General Hospital as a Bio-Medical Technician.

Mr. Hemerick was a member of St. Casimirs Church, Shenandoah.

Gene will be remembered for his woodworking skills.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his wife Joan M. (Jevelle) Hemerick, R.N. on May 25, 2009 and a brother, Joseph Hemerick.

Surviving are one daughter Eva wife of James McClafferty of Ringtown; two grandsons, Kevin McClafferty and his wife Allison of Ringtown and Brian McClafferty and his wife Katherine of Tysons Corner, VA.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10:00 am. in St. Casimirs Church, Shenandoah. Rev. Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor will officiate. Interment will be strictly private at the convenience of the family.

Friends may call at St. Casimirs Church on Tuesday morning from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. There will be no viewing or services from the funeral home.
