Ernestine M. Jo (Jones) Examitas, age 65 of 546 Mt. Olive Blvd., Lost Creek passed away peacefully Tuesday morning at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street, Pottsville.
Born in Lost Creek on April 29, 1948 she was a daughter of the late Raymond J. and Ernestine (Dolan) Jones.
Jo was a 1966 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.
Earlier she worked for Van Heusen, Pottsville and later at the Schuylkill County Court House, Civil Defense Department. She was last employed for Central Highway Oil, Frackville.
Jo was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Church, Lost Creek and member and former president of the William Penn Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
She will be remembered for her passion for gardening and trips to the casinos; however her greatest joy was spending time with her grandson, Ryan.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were two sisters, Ann L. Jones and Mary Maisy Jones and three brothers, William, Robert Patches and James Jones.
Surviving are her husband Richard T. Examitas with whom she celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on April 28th; a son, Richard R. Examitas and his wife Kelly and their son, Ryan all of Shenandoah Heights; one brother, Raymond Ripper Jones and his wife Kathy of Gordon; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9:30 AM from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 AM in Annunciation BVM Church, Shenandoah. Rev. Charles J. Dene will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Josephs Cemetery, Fountain Springs, Butler Township.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM. There will be no calling hours Friday evening.
