Elizabeth "Betty" (McGuire) Dower, 78, of Shenandoah, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, with her loving family by her side.
Born and raised in Shenandoah, she was a daughter of the late John and Anna Kilty McGuire.
She was a retired garment worker having worked in the local garment industry.
Betty was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, formerly Annunciation BVM Church, Shenandoah.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Harry E. George; a daughter at birth; a grandson, Matthew Yablonsky; a great-grandson, Ethan Yablonsky; a son-in-law, Paul T. Yablonsky; a sister, Annmarie McGuire.
Surviving are her husband of 32 years, William S. Dower; three sons, Robert George and his wife, Amy, Clarksville, Tenn., Frank George, Shenandoah, and Michael George and his wife, Ingrid, Front Royal, Va.; a daughter, Nancy Yablonsky, Shenandoah Heights; a brother, John McGuire, Shenandoah; a sister, Mary Hoffman, Mahanoy City; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
A religious service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian will officiate. Interment will follow in Annunciation BVM Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, Shenandoah, is in charge of the arrangements.
