She was preceded in death by a child before birth, parents, John Leary and Elizabeth (Vinsko) Leary; one sibling John Leary Jr.; son-in-law, Michael Dalley; grandson, Russ Snyder. Elizabeth was born on November 19, 1930 in Shenandoah. She was very proud of her Irish heritage. As a little girl she cherished walking hand in hand with her dad along the railroad tracks singing "O Danny Boy." Betty told stories about how she was known to have hopped a train or two and share half sandwiches with the railroad workers. She graduated from J.W. Cooper High School class of 1948. During her youth she would attend dances at the local dance halls. It was there at one of those dances a handsome Lithuanian boy Adolph "Al" Wychulis had caught her attention with his wonderful dance skills. On October 6, 1951, she married her Lithuanian lad, soul mate, and the love of her life. They were happily married for nearly 68 special years filled with the truest love, devotion, and faithfulness to one another. Betty's strong work ethic began right out of high school when she traveled to Philadelphia to help support her mother. Her endless hard work mindset continued right through to her retirement from Bemis Manufacturing, Hazelton at 62 years of age. As a lifelong member of the Roman Catholic Church, she kept her catholic faith close to her heart. Betty enjoyed traveling, one of her fondest memories was her trip to Hawaii. Although she loved to experience places a far, she thoroughly enjoyed spending time on her boat at Lake Wallenpaupack with her family. Her and Al's favorite place to spend their summers was at their house in the Pocono Mountains near Lake Wallenpaupack with the entire family taking them fishing, tubing, water skiing, swimming, or having cookouts on the deck and swimming in the pool. Betty was most known for her excellent chef skills, from soups to ethnic dishes and desserts. Her grandchildren have the best memories baking with nana. A lover of innovation, she enjoyed acquiring the new latest device. Her grandkids always were amazed how tech savvy she was. Betty always enjoyed to crochet, drink coffee by the wood burning stove and looking out the window while saying her rosery. Most times Betty would be spotted with her camera in hand, she captured all her family's special moments, especially her grandchildren's sporting events not missing a single one. Throughout her life she found enjoyment teaching and guiding her loved ones with special traditions, values and morals. Betty's family will proudly pass those customs on for generations to come along with her very strong work ethic, which could be seen as she rarely missed a day of work, go into work in bad weather, do double shifts when needed. She will always be remembered as a loving, devoted, faithful wife to Adolph and a doting, proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. As a very warm-hearted, caring, compassionate, kind, and selfless woman who wanted nothing more than to have her family close building memories for a lifetime, which is something she most certainly accomplished.
