Eleanor E. (Shoup) Zubowicz, 86, of Ringtown, and a former resident of Shenandoah, passed away peacefully Saturday evening at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Allentown.

Born in Shenandoah, Jan. 19, 1932, she was a daughter of the late William and Helen(Smith) Shoup.

She was a 1950 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.

Eleanor was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah, and prior to that, a lifelong member of the former St. Stanislaus Church, Shenandoah. She enjoyed gardening and bingo but above all, she loved being with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony S. Zubowicz Sr.; her son, Anthony S. Zubowicz Jr. and his wife, Susan Glowacki Zubowicz; her great-grandson, Russell Anthony Zubowicz; her daughter Karen's late companion, Daniel J. "Derchie" Dereskiewicz; three brothers, Wilbur, Clarence and Stephen Shoup; two sisters, Isabelle Nolter and Dorothy Shoup.

Surviving are her son, Jeffrey "JZ" Zubowicz, Ringtown; her daughter, Karen Zubowicz, Ringtown; a grandson, Michael Zubowicz and his wife, Nikki, Ringtown; a great-grandson, Jack Andrew Zubowicz; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday from Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. A Mass of Christian Burial will then be celebrated at 9 a.m. in St. Casimir's Church, the Sacred Worship Site of Divine Mercy Parish with Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, pastor, as the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. A viewing will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday and from 7:30 until 8:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
