Obituary

Edward "Big Ed" Michalik, 78 of Shenandoah passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 peacefully at home surrounded by his loving and most caring family. Born in Shenandoah on December 7, 1943, he was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Zuber) Michalik. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Hershey Chocolate Corporation. !Ed was an active member of St. Casimir's Church, Shenandoah. He was also a loyal supporter of "the Paper Store", Hollywood and Mohegan Sun Casinos. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his sisters RoseMarie, Diane and brother Walter. Surviving is his loving wife of 58 years, Catherine (Cicioni) whom he cherished and adored. His wonderful sons, Edward and wife Kerri (Potsko) of Bloomsburg, Joseph and Darlene (Davis) of Shenandoah, and Anthony and his fiancé, Michael Treese Jr. of Coal Township; and his treasured daughter, Anita and her husband Walt of Bristow, VA. Ed is also survived by his four prized possessions, his grandchildren, Emily, Walter and Abby of Bristow, VA and Molly of Shenandoah. His grandchildren were the light of his life! Also surviving are his brothers, Richard, Paul, Joseph, Stanley, Anthony, Albert, and his sister JoAnn; his nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly; cousins and many, many friends and quite a few who considered Ed a second father. To know Ed was to love him and to love him was to witness the everlasting and unconditional love he had for his family! Ed's family extends heartfelt thanks to his compassionate caregiver Alexis Ulinitz, the staff of Compassus Hospice and his most loved and cherished sister-in-law, BethAnn for the care, comfort, compassion, and endless support they provided these past few months! A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 22, 2022 at 10:00 am in St. Casimir's Church, 229 North Jardin Street, Shenandoah with Rev. Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor as the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. A visitation will be held on Friday morning from 8:00 am until 10:00 am in St. Casimir's Church. Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 South Jardin Street, Shenandoah is in care or the arrangements. To leave a condolence for Ed's family, please sign the guestbook below.
